Digital transformation is growing tension among businesses worldwide. It involves various disciplines of businesses’ operational life, while according to bibliography there exist at least 3 levels of maturity that each company can reach. Proposed research entitled “Greek SMEs Digital Transformation” aim to enlighten external drivers of digital transformation phenomenon and to study global tensions in order to spot key factors.
A multidisciplinary approach is adopted, while Systematic Literature Review and Quantitative Text Analysis will be used to achieve it. Moreover, a series of interviews will be conducted with senior managers in Greek SMEs in order to rate existing degree of Key Factors’ adoption and willingness to implement in the next years. A strategic plan for implementing effectively digital transformation will be conducted, while results will be for public use from businesses, regulation authorities and researchers.
Proposed impact is of high importance for the national economy since SMEs represent 99.9% of all Greek companies, providing 56.7% of the national added-value and having 83% of all employees. It should be noted that even though digital transformation has gained research and businesses’ interest, especially after COVID-19 pandemic crisis, almost no systematic and
empirical research has been conducted focusing on SMEs. Proposed research could contribute to this field and moreover could provide added-value recommendations to Greek SMEs on “how” to effectively implement digital transformation (from a multidisciplinary approach and not only from a technology – oriented approach) in order to compete successfully in the global economic environment.
