The “EN.I.R.I.S.S.T” is a unique and innovative research infrastructure aimed at filling an existing research gap in the shipping, supply chain and transport sectors in Greece, which is an important hub for the transport of passengers and cargo worldwide. The project aims to formulate a research and business intelligent platform that combines business analysis and data visualization and mining techniques, to support key economic activities and small and medium-sized enterprises in the context of smart specialization (RIS3) of regions and related political decisions.
The ENIRISST project using intelligent and automated transnational and virtual access services, will collect, process and provide to researchers and users, information and tools on domestic and international passenger and commodity transport, including maritime, air, land and intermodal transport.
“EN.I.R.I.S.S.T.” will provide an opportunity for the academic community, researchers, business associations, private and public companies, infrastructure operators and governments to support original research, investment plans and policies. It will also create a multidimensional institution of economic and research development for Greece, participating in the creation of new and strengthening existing networks at local and regional level that will ensure the flow of knowledge and information, connecting them with global networks aimed at attracting highly specialized human resources to Greece.
The “EN.I.R.I.S.S.T” infrastructure brings together researchers in the fields of transport, logistics and shipping, software developers and industry representatives. Specialization in the aforementioned scientific areas of the 19 major partners, including Universities, Academic Departments and Research Centers, and collaborating partners will promote research excellence and develop a strong expertise through the use of powerful tools to support the lifelong smart experience, in the context of the National Strategic Research, Technological Development and Innovation for Smart Specialization (RIS3).
