The ST3AM project will contribute to the reduction of gender disparities in higher education in STEM subjects by developing a gender-sensitive culture, empowering girls and women through innovative educational modules and mentorship. It also develops diversity, career opportunities, and causes systemic shift by connecting schools, higher education, and industry in a manner reflecting the vision of the European Commission for inclusivity and equality. ST3AM will contribute to the reduction of gender disparities in STEM, inspiring and empowering women and girls to reform educational practices, while improving diversity in education and industry. It will develop and implement gender-sensitive curricula that ensure synergies across education and industry to achieve a lasting cultural impact and policy influence across Europe.
Key activities:
- Develop and analyse national and synthesized datasheets about the factors that influence participation in STEM subjects-Attract, Access, Attain.
- Reforming the curricula of STEM to be more inclusive and diverse, with concurrent training of faculty on gender-sensitive teaching methods.
- Create a ST3AMspiration and Leadership Hub for instructional materials and mentorship, with particular attention to critical transitions in STEM.
- Establish synergies between educational levels and industry for promoting women in STEM careers.
Expected Results and Impact:
- A strong ST3AMspiration and Leadership Hub will be created.
- Increased enrolment and completion by women of STEM programs;
- Creation of a support network of role models and mentors.
