Dress up, Dance and Digitally Dive into Culture (4D CULTURE)

“4D CULTURE” is a transnational and Erasmus+ project, which introduces an online portal used for the purposes of education, information and entertainment.
This project will be addressed to fashion designers, textile engineers, professional dancers and students, scholars of Europe’s recent history, and, also, to people of all ages, who are interested in all these fields as amateurs.
It is focused on building a virtual portal by providing a realistic visualization of ethnographic and folklore issues.
The most innovative aspect of the project will be carried out by the virtual reality performance of certain traditional dances, digitally represented and placed within the digital representation of the selected region.

Aim of the Project

Project aims to:

  • Exceed the current methods of online teaching by making actual use of the V.R.Ε.’s advantages.
  • Aggregate state-of-the art knowledge and compile it in the form of a folklorpedia.
  • Train and certify multi background learners via a practical and memorable experience.
  • Offer new opportunities for self-paced and informal learning via the open access platform created by the project.

Targets Of Project

  • State-of-the-art review of traditional costumes linked to folklore dancing – The results of the review will be published in the form an e-book and a “folkorepedia” database.
  • 4DCulture Virtual Platform – The 4DCulture Virtual online Platform serves the project as its central knot and portal.
  • 4D Representation: VR Application via motion capturing – It will take the form of a VR Ready multimedia standalone application, supported by the web platform and designed to serve educational purposes by focusing on ethnographic and folklore objects.
  • Recording tradition MOOCs – Τhe MOOCs will include interactive elements and audiovisual materials. Embedded quizzes will offer the opportunity to participants to receive an e-badge as a certificate of successful completion, for them to be able to prove the competences learned.
